# Payment & App Compatibility with Preorder (using Selling Plan)

### ✅ Usually works (officially supported with Selling Plans)

These payment methods are generally supported by Shopify for selling plans and preorders:

#### Shopify Payments

Supported payment methods through Shopify Payments:

* Visa
* Mastercard
* American Express
* Discover
* Shop Pay
* Apple Pay
* Google Pay

#### Other commonly supported gateways

* PayPal
* PayPal Express Checkout
* Authorize.net
* Adyen
* Stripe

### ❌ Payment methods that commonly do NOT work with Selling Plans

These payment methods are frequently incompatible with preorder using Selling Plans:

* Cash on Delivery (COD) / Pay on Delivery
* Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) providers
* Local redirect payment methods
* Alternative payment gateways not integrated with Selling Plans

Examples merchants commonly expect to work but often do not:

* Afterpay
* Clearpay
* Affirm
* Mollie
* Mercado Pago
* Razorpay
* GoKwik
* PayU
* 2Checkout (Verifone)
* Worldpay
* Braintree

### ⚠️ App combinations that may not work well with Preorder

Selling Plans may become difficult or unsupported when combined with:

* COD preorder flows
* BNPL + preorder
* Bundle apps + preorder
* Subscription apps + preorder
* Deposit / partial payment flows
* Local payment gateway apps
* Custom shipping logic for preorder products
* Mixed cart setups (normal products + preorder + subscription)

### Need unsupported payment or app flows?

If you need combinations like **COD, subscriptions, bundles, deposits, local gateways, or advanced shipping logic**, consider using a preorder method that does **not rely on Shopify Selling Plans**.
